David Hlynsky

David Hlynsky has exhibited as a painter and photographer and has worked as a graphic designer,
writer and publisher. He has contributed to projects in live theatre and in children's television
production. He is currently teaching part time at Sheridan College and at the University of Toronto.
Between 1986 and 1990 he produced a large body of documentary photographs in Communist
Europe and his photo essay in the fall 1990 issue of Canadian Art was nominated for a National
Magazine Award. He has been awarded eleven permanent, public art commissions involving
photography or sculpture, six of them in collaboration with artist, Shirley Yanover. He also
produced collaborative photo/theatrical projects with performance artists (Video Cabaret,
Gordon Monahan, Elizabeth Chitty, Tanya Mars, The Clichetes, Randy and Berenicci) and with
playwrights Jim Garrard and Paul Ledoux.
