Gorillas
They have come wading out from wave
and silhouette the shore in herds.
Surf at their feet
shapes hair on ankles
scarred by sea polyps
that they grew from.
This then a simple evolution:
that vast black animals
grained and carved by the sea
who eat fruits of perindeus, full sapped palms,
have come, and wait their turn on the beaches.
