The Trojan War Goes to Japan
.....They were remarking
.....that the cherry
.....which drooped over the pond
.....was in bud
I have discovered various ways of leaning.
With a twitch of my shoulder blades
I can be off the wall and smiling.
Such patience to sprawl
foot cocked over the chair’s arm—
and this is no disciplined buddhist hunch,
there is pain in my laziness.
When it rains
I move the wicker chair to the window
to see people wet, running.
This afternoon
I am counting the flowers in the house
and timing the stretching sun on the walls.
