FAMILY

Was there power where I sprang from?
I wonder
...............over the pondering of my past,
It must have begun with
.................................... hairpants prowlers of an earlier
Angle Land. Picts, Jutes, Scots, carrying my seeds over a foggy
Island. Families of Og, joining me to the Dukes of
Happy Land.

........................Rich man
........................poor man
........................beggar man

........................thief

In the descent and climbing, a tangled rime of time.

I know there was a singer of hymns in the centuries
And a peerage visited upon us.
.................................................And kings related and stories
Told by idiots in stone houses.
.................................................Under thatched roofs, others——
Sibilant growing of the Church and Nation
..................................................................and the Clan.

To where we are, now.
.....................................No power but the delta of time.
No past unfogged on the Island.
....................................................No family but me.
