The Groats
Oh the wasps and the bees
That are furry as yellow and black
Fat sofas and chesterfields
Suck at the groats,
Or butterflies listen there
To their Master’s voice
For there is a gramaphone
Of choir-boys
Hidden at their roots,
Or the Italian humming-bird
Pierces with thin black rapier
Into their ivory ears.
