"I was encouraged to make the play the title-piece of a new book of poems which were contracted to the Ryerson Press. Ryerson, however, for reasons explicable only to United Churchmen, refused at the last moment to accept 'damnation'. The word was o.k. in the text, but too shocking on the cover."
