A Collection of Foreign Objects (ACOFO) was founded in Japan in 2003 by a group of Canadian artists
living there at the time. These artists saw the important connections between the artwork they were
producing and the work produced by their Japanese contemporaries.
As a collective our goals are:
1) to promote young Canadian and Japanese artists to new audiences,
2) to facilitate connection, communication, and collaboration between young artists, and
3) to challenge audiences to see new things, and to enter into the unexpected.

If stuck amidst the asphalt and concrete for too long, the average urban dweller will inevitably talk about
escaping the city for a little while. When Torontonians think of escaping, they think of exotic places: a
secluded beach, a hiking expedition, a tropical paradise – anything but pavement. For one night, at the
intersection where cityscape meets dreamscape, the dreamy qualities of a vacation in paradise were brought
to the city sidewalks.
