Badanna Zack biography
Born in Montreal, Badanna Zack studied architecture at McGill University before completing her fine arts
studies at Concordia University (BA) and Rutgers University (MFA). Currently living in Toronto,
Zack works primarily in sculpture and installation and has utilized a range of materials including polished
aluminum, wood, plaster, found objects and papier mache. Demonstrating an interest in formal and
conceptual issues as well as ecological concerns, Zack's work typically transforms everyday objects in
ways that invite further contemplation. Her recent work has included public installations
and soft-mould papier mache sculptures finished in the various patterns and textures found in newspapers. Zack's
work has been exhibited in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe and is contained in numerous private and public
collections. Also an educator and curator, she has received various awards and grants from the
Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, and Esther and Samuel Gottlieb Foundation.
