The Cryptic Canvas
Aaron Li-Hill, Fabrice Arfi

Inspired by the culture surrounding graffiti with its strong focus on night scenes and cityscapes, Aaron Li-Hill exhibits a series of recent works created using traditional graffiti technique and mixed-media on large scale discarded objects. Keeping in the spirit of the medium, The Cryptic Canvas Gallery will be transformed by photographer Fabrice Arfi to mimic the urban landscapes graffiti art calls home as a backdrop to Li-Hill’s work. The exhibit will also include a brief history of the graffiti technique and culture. This exhibit is designed to address the question of whether graffiti has a place in contemporary art today.

The exhibit will take place for the entire duration of Nuit Blanche and 13 days following.
