Ilona Staples - Statement
Ilona Staples is a Toronto sculptural artist whose primary focus is on food,
consumption and the body. She is concerned about the impact of
overconsumption on the environment. The forms and textures in her work are
often visceral and derived from an awareness of her aging body and its
declining functions. A graduate of Concordia University and the Ontario
College of Art and Design, she has exhibited in Canada, the US, England and
Hungary.
