Nadine Faraj
Montreal, Canada
The EPHEMERA project transforms retail spaces into giant street-level light boxes. Black and white drawings are created directly on the windows of shops and offices which are lit from within. What one sees at night are drawings made of light. Light travels like a radio wave; infinitely outward from its source, while transmitting information and energy. As a result, these light boxes become visual broadcasting stations that passersby can freely tune into. These are spaces where people can gather, where the art sparks spontaneous conversation and interaction. The drawings attempt to trace the lines of invisible forces that shape us and our world. These drawings stem from observations of nature which reveals how things move, breathe and evolve. EPHEMERA's distinct rays of light hopefully inspire viewers to share in the universal dialogue that binds us all.
Nadine Faraj received her BFA from Montreal's Concordia University in 2002 and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2008.
