Diner
In 1980, Tony Calzetta was commissioned to create a series of
mural paintings for The Bloor Street Diner Restaurant in Toronto.
His solution was to wallpaper the oversized canvasses directly
onto the walls, wrapping them around corners and fully integrating
them into the spacial design. The theme of these paintings, says
Calzetta, "was the mood of the city at night". In this clip, Calzetta
discuss the process he used to create the Bloor Street Diner Paintings.

Drawing
Tony's work begins with an "incredible charcoal line that is charged
with an intensity and a fierceness of expression that's startling"-
John Metcalf. He admits "that sound of the charcoal on the paper
makes little hairs go up on the back of your neck". In this studio
clip, Tony works with charcoal, gouache and arches watercolour
paper on a large drawing from his 2004 black & white series.

Process
For Calzetta, process is "a feeling for things", some of it concious
and some of it sub-concious. In this clip he explains how he's
driven by visual information.
